About

DeadmanDAO started as an exploration of DAOs and smart contracts, which seemed like a useful mechanism. I bought Bitcoin at $3 and sold out when it was still under $1000. While I saw it as an interesting high risk investment, I didn’t see the economic fundamentals without practical utility as currency.

DAOs led me to take a second look at smart contracts, which I had dismissed when I first read about them in 2016. I began to see the ability to support new kinds of transactions that are opening a whole new economic sector. Then I started reading more about decentralization and how the technology was reflected in the culture of Web3.

The pendulum swing from peer-to-peer to centralization to decentralization will swing back. But we have a chance, right now, to build mechanisms that reinforce the most positive aspects of distribution of power and economy.
